MARVEL/DC: DEADPOOL/BATMAN #1 is finally out in comic shops! A lot of fun stories in this giant issue, and one of them is mine!
THE GUN & THE SWORD features Captain America and Wonder Woman in the last days of WWII and … beyond? No spoilers, but it was a really satisfying story to get to write, re-imagining these characters in fun new ways. And, my god, I’ve worked with Terry and Rachel Dodson before on FANTASTIC FOUR / X-MEN (hold for applause), but this is them on a whole new level, especially since Terry coloured his own work. Nobody illustrates heroes like these two.
Go get it! It’s pretty cool! I have yet to grab a copy, but I would imagine Zeb and Greg’s main Batman and Deadpool story is an all-timer!
Also! Terry and Rachel did their pages traditionally, so they’ll soon be up for sale! Look at some of the artistic process here (but beware of spoilers)!
As most of you know by now, I am not a collector. I don’t have longboxes of old comics, files of original art, or action figures filling my studio. Is it because I can’t feel joy? No, it’s actually the opposite. I always feel joy so I don’t need items to kickstart positive feelings! Sorry, everyone! I’m perfect in every way inside and out!
That being said, I may seriously break my “no action figures” rule for this bad boy:
That’s right! McFarlane Toys is putting out a badass Mega Figure of FAILSAFE, my precious robot baby with Jorge Jiménez! I don’t know what “Mega Figure” actually means, but I can only imagine it’s bigger than a normal action figure?? Look at my emotionless unstoppable robot boy!!!
Love it. Apparently there’s some sort of video reveal thing later today and then you can pre-order it, just in time for “Batman Day?”
Also just in time for Batman Day … ZCN issue 15 is out this week! Featuring Mr. Matt Fraction, Mr. Jorge Jiménez, and a bunch of Batman tidbits!
It’s a good one, gang. Especially for anyone who misses our old SEX CRIMINALS letter pages.
I also did an illustration of Jim Zub as Conan The Barbarian.
Last but not least, apparently there’s a new paperback edition of my complete HOWARD THE DUCK run out this week??? Whenever I flip through these old issues I always think “fuck, it was all downhill from here wasn’t it?”
If you want a fun time with gorgeous Joe Quinones art, I highly recommend you pick this up. Almost 500 pages for less then $50 American?! You’re practically making money at that price!!
I think that’s it this week? I’ve been running around, globetrotting like a fancy lad and am finally back in the studio where I create “magic”. There’s a lot going on and I can’t talk about any of it but boy oh boy the next couple of years are going to be so full of Chiptent™ (Chip Content) that you’re going to be absolutely sick of me. Which has been my goal all along!
