Yes, he’s as stunning in real life as he is on The InterNet. Handsome? Sure. Muscular? Absolutely. But Jorge is also one of the kindest and most upbeat people I’ve ever met. And so goddamn talented! I’d say it’s not fair, but also I don’t really want to practice to get better at drawing, nor do I want to work out for an hour every day. I also just keep buying my shirts from Value Village. So, I guess it’s technically “fair.”

ALSO, has there ever been a photo that summed up both Spanish and Canadian culture so perfectly? It’s like we’re cosplaying our own countries.

Jorge and I had dinner one night where I got to tell him the next two years of Batman, which was a great feeling because he kept saying “I want to draw it all” and “my mind is racing with ideas” and “but why would Batman murder Robin”. Jorge is always excited by email, but it’s no substitute for being in the same room together, face to lesser-face. We’re excited! Will I be fired before we get to do this? I’d say we’re looking at 50/50 odds and I LIKE those odds!!!

I also got to hang out with my OTHER favourite Jorge, Jorge Fornes! And he gave me one of the pages from our Daredevil issues together! We then made a blood pact to work together again, though technically the blood was just mine as Jorge wasn’t “feeling it.”

James Tynion is a total sweetheart who also happens to run the comics industry. Being able to talk shop with someone after seventy years of a pandemic was really a treat, but he lost me when he started talking about “managing success.” Sounds hard!

We also maybe had too many wines and fought over Jorge at some point. It’s all a blur

Lot of people are saying this was just an excuse to feel his arms, but those people are WRONG, it was just a nice BYPRODUCT

Anyhoo, it was a lovely time, I forgot to eat a churro, but I did get a pic of me with Big Batman and Teabaggin’ Tim. Thanks to ECC for bringing me out!!!
