TORONTO! I’m going to be doing a live interview and signing at The Sidekick on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 with Wednesday Night Reviews! The interview will start at 4:30 and then I’ll sign books after 5:30! You should come out! It’ll be fun maybe!
Apparently today was Batman Day and I missed it because I was busy writing Batman comics?! I feel like the best way to celebrate this holiday is to actually celebrate my long-suffering editor (and Chipclass student) Allison O’Toole.
At SPX last week, her and her amazing team won Best Anthology at the Ignatz Awards for SHADES OF FEAR!
Which is incredibly cool and well-deserved. But THEN it was announced that Allison is also on Kickstarter’s Creative Advisory Council?!
A banner week for Team Allison obviously. So, why is Batman Day the best day to celebrate Allison and her achievements? Because two years ago when I told her I would be writing Batman, she proudly told me that she’s never read a Batman comic. And now I’ve been writing Batman for over a year, and do you think she’s finally read a Batman comic? Absolutely not.
So in a very real sense she’s better than Batman, because canonically, as Batman’s writer, I can say that he’s read SHADES OF FEAR, but Allison has not read any of his adventures.

She probably hasn’t even read Daredevil! So she won’t even care that the King Daredevil Funko is now available to order!

My only other thing to tell you today is to please go pick up the new Tamaki² book, ROAMING!
It’s actually aggravating how Mariko and Jillian just get better and better, considering how amazing they were right from the start. Skim and This One Summer are masterpieces and Roaming somehow one ups those books with a more mature tale of young friends and acquaintances visiting New York City. The insecurities and wonder inside the book will take almost anyone back to this place and time in their lives. And every page is so distinct and beautiful, I don’t know how Jillian does it.
Also, I’ve been wanting to post this panel for months now.
Now THAT’S New York!!!
