COMICSCOMPCON24 was a huge success. It really did make me happy seeing everyone flipping through comic boxes, finding lost gems or new reads. Plus, it was really nice hanging out with my fellow local creators. I highly recommend comic creators in other cities do this. It felt great, plus it unburdened me of ten short boxes worth of books! If you’re a comic creator who wants to do this, I’ll help by sending you all my promotional material plus the logo for COMICCOMPSCON! Get your books into the hands of the PEOPLE!!
My studio feels almost empty now. I tried to be very un-precious about my books and put everything into those boxes. But as I was packing, there was one that I just couldn’t bear to part with:
For anyone who doesn’t know what this is, it’s the “Brimpception” variant of SEX CRIMINALS Fraction and I did many, many years ago. The story behind it is here, and it still makes me laugh thinking about Heather and Juliette opening the usual Diamond boxes in the store they worked at and finding a comic with their face on it. Sometimes comics can be good and fun!
So that was my takeaway from this weekend and getting ready for the weekend: sometimes comics can be good and fun. Good to remember as we head into 2025.
