Sudbury and Thunder Bay were a delightful time! In Sudbury I got to tell the CBC about my job, which went well I think?
I also got to meet a lovely couple in Thunder Bay who loved Sex Criminals so much it was in the photo they had everyone sign at their wedding!
And speaking of sexcrimz, I got to visit my dear friend Tiffy, who was the model for Suzie!
It’s been ten years since we started Sex Criminals and we now look like the older couple at the bar who noticed you from across the room. Time is a magical thing!
These have been delightful encounters, but the most delightful was here in Thunder Bay. I was relaxing in my hotel room when the phone rang, which is always unsettling. I answered and a woman said, “Chip?” Also, VERY unsettling! Had it actually happened? Did I finally have a groupie track me down to a Northern Ontario hotel?? No! It was comic writer Kathryn Immonen! Her and her husband Stuart were STAYING IN THE SAME HOTEL AS ME! So, I just had a wonderful brunch with them where we decided once and for all what should be done in the comic industry: It needs 👏 more 👏 batman 👏!!!
For anyone who hasn’t yet, you should pick up Russian Olive to Red King, which is one of my favourite books of the last decade. Beautiful in every way.
