Domain In Public!
Plus: Kaptara! Variants! NYT! Batchat!
This upcoming Monday is FOC for Public Domain #1 at Image Comics. What does that mean? Well, FOC stands for “Final Order Cutoff,” so it’s the date where retailers will order their copies just before we set our print run.
It’s a big deal! If you shop at the kind of shop that’s like “enhhh if Batman ain’t in it I won’t order any,” then you have to say to them, “I bleed Chip blood. I am a Zdarskyhead. I am legion though I am technically only one of a dozen of us if I’m being completely honest.” Then you ask them to order in a copy (Or two! Or three!) of PUBLIC DOMAIN issue 1!
There is only going to be ONE variant for this as well. Why? Because I hate making money! And that variant is going to only be available to my yearly Substack subscribers! It’s the one I was threatening to make a variant of and I’ve gone and DONE IT!
Much like the DEVIL’S REIGN and NEWBURN variants, this will be done through our fine retailer partners at The Beguiling. We’re making these SUPER limited! Only 300 printed! And, of course, we’ll be sending free copies to all of our Chipnutz level subscribers!
So, yeah! Big day for ZDARSCO, INC! I’ll post the purchase link when it’s live!

In other cool-ass news, I’m in the NEW YORK TIMES!
That’s me! My name on the NYT website! George Gustines did a piece on the fans’ favourite Spidey stories of all time and the issue I wrote and illustrated made it onto the list and I didn’t even have to “get out the vote” because I didn’t know the vote was happening! Fun!
Speaking of fun, I had a delightful time chatting with Scott Snyder the other night, talkin’ Batman and the absolutely crushing, intense pressure I’m under!!!!! It was a v. nice time except for the aforementioned pressure.

I have issues!!! Which is why Jason Loo and I went on Comic Book Couples Counseling to sort through some shit! We had a delightful chat about THE ALL-NIGHTER and how horrible I am!
And last but not least I got to read THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH PATRICK TODD by Friend Of The Stack Ed Brisson and Gavin Guidry, with colour art by Chris O’Halloran and lettering by ANOTHER Friend Of The Stack, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou!
It’s a super fun, strangely creepy story about a young man trying to help his ailing mother. What a good boy! But he has a secret! What a bad boy! But he uses that secret for good! What a good boy!
It’s really great and man oh man Gavin is stellar on art! He feels like the next Greg Smallwood (Greg is a very talented comic artist, mom), in no small part to the beautiful colouring by Chris!
And wouldn’t you know it, issue one has ITS FOC on Monday too! So when you go to harass your comic shop about PUBLIC DOMAIN, you can also do it for THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH PATRICK TODD! Easy peasy!
