Okay, so it’s an early newsletter because of some late-breaking news…
I’VE BEEN NOMINATED FOR THREE EISNER AWARDS WHAT
It’s true! I’m up for:
BEST CONTINUING SERIES for Daredevil, with my amazing partners!
BEST NEW SERIES for Public Domain!
BEST WRITER for some reason!
It’s very exciting and I feel very lucky. And look, I’m not above asking people to vote for me. Voting is open to those who work in and around the industry, so it’s going to be hard for me to win because a lot of those people have previously worked with me, so they’ll be prejudiced because of how horrible I was to them (it’s not fair!!).
CHRIST IT’S EMBARRASSING SEEING YOU LIKE THIS
What, begging? you’ve seen me do this so many—
NO NO I MEAN INVESTED EMOTIONALLY IN SOMETHING
Oh. Yeah … sorry
In other exciting news, Marvel has teased a big announcement for today!

I get to help reveal who is going to murder me and take over as writer of Daredevil! So, yeah, check out the This Week In Marvel podcast when it drops today! It’s a GOOD ONE
oh wait it just dropped ha ha

It’s SALADIN AHMED with AARON KUDER on art!!
I was thrilled when I found out and have had some great chats with Saladin about his upcoming story, which is amazing. So amazing that I’m mad. Like, why didn’t I think of that?
My run leads directly into his, pretty seamlessly, so if you’ve been enjoying my take on Daredevil you’re going to love this run. If you have not been enjoying my take then you also will probably love this run, it’s just that good. And holy shit, Aaron is producing the best work of his career. Beautiful, thoughtful pages.
I was saying to someone the other day that the one downside to being the Daredevil writer is that you don’t get to read new Daredevil comics, as weird as that sounds. So I’m really looking forward to picking up the book every month again and enjoy it as a fan!
And now….
TOUR UPDATE!
The next two are big ones!
MAY 20 (Saturday) 12-3
EDMONTON, AB! Variant Edition
MAY 22 (Monday) 3-6
CALGARY, AB! Another Dimension
Edmonton is a (free) ticketed event to manage lines, but if you missed out on those I will stay to sign everything, so you can still come on down, you’ll just have to wait until I take care of the ticketed elite!
Also, speaking of the tour, I gave a fun interview to the Zero Issue guys when I was in Thunder Bay last week!
And that’s it?
Have a nice rest of your week?
Bye?
My my my, quite the list of nominations you managed to nab for yourself there champ! Congrats Chip!
Ah yes, the end of an era. Gonna be strange not seeing you and Marcos on DD anymore, but we’ll always have Hell’s Kitchen, so there’s that. And of course this means you get freed up to focus more on Batman, so it’s not a COMPLETE loss. Still, epic run brother, epic run.
Also, shames me to admit, I can’t say I recognize the new creative team, or anything they have worked on at the House of Ideas. Anything in particular of theirs you might be familiar with so I can get a taste of what’s to come from their run?
Also if that cover for their issue 1 is any indication, I just lost my wager in the pool on whether Matt makes it out alive in this run or not. TBH, i was betting Elektra takes over the series going forward. Kinda bummed I was wrong there, lol.
Finally question: this arc upcoming is supposed to be a Catwoman crossover. Is the Catwoman involved in here going to be the new one, or OG Selina? I haven’t been keeping up with Catwoman’s title in a while so I’m a little behind.
Anyways, keep up the good work Chip!
Hey! That’s awesome, and truly well-deserved. Congratulations on being nominated, and I’ll be rooting for you! Tbh, I’m not surprised at all, especially about the “best writer” nomination: pretty much anytime I see your name on a project, I pick it up and add it to my pull list - no further questions needed - because you’ve earned my trust and confidence that whatever it is will be top notch. Seriously.
Ok, enough praise. You still have more stops on your Canadian road trip, and you don’t need a big head making it difficult to get in and out of your car!
