Late newsletter this week because life is relentless!! Renovations in the house, which means my beloved (Canadian) bride and cat (Mr. Sweetpea) are holed up in my one-room studio (no washroom) with our foster cat (Junebug). It’s super fun waking up and stepping one foot over to my desk while two cats shit three feet away from me!
Yes that’s a Tim Hortons cup because I’m CANADIAN, okay??

Um, it’s actually owned by Restaurants Brands International whose largest shareholder is a Brazilian investment firm called 3G Capital but several Canadian banks and investment firms hold shares that are comparable to 3G’s, so in a technical sense it’s still somewhat Canadian.
OH OK I STAND CORRECTED
Anyway! I didn’t let being sequestered in the studio stop me from watching my first foray into the MCU as a comics creator!! DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN episodes five and six came out this week and I sat down and watched episode five and was fucking furious that my character didn’t show up once. So then I watched episode six and there he was!
My beautiful son with proud co-parent Marco on TV!! Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of something of mine ending up on a streaming service owned by Disney where I could watch it from crazy computer tablets or cordless phones that fit in my pocket! Never give up on your dreams!!

A lot of people are concerned this whole Hollywood thing is going to go to my head, but I’m still me. Still Chip Zdarsky. I just have a whole new level of access now, that’s all.
In other news, THE GLOBE & MAIL interviewed me about WHITE HOUSE ROBOT ROMANCE! Apparently when you set a comic against the backdrop of a potential U.S.-Canada war, it gets media attention. Weird!
HOT TIP: It’s easy to predict the future when you just think of shitty things that could happen in the future
Here’s a fun thing! David Harper over at SKTCHD has put out his new print annual of the year that was! In it, he decided to include our 2024 conversation, PLUS an article about Daredevil that included me!
