Oh man it’s a big week
BIG FOR WHO
For me! And you, if you’re, y’know, into me?
First up, it’s NEWBURN WEEK WOOO
The first issue of our new Image book is out tomorrow! Jacob and I are really proud of this one and we very much hope you enjoy it. For anyone who doesn’t know what it’s about, it revolves around a guy named Easton Newburn, a cool customer who happens to be the private detective on retainer to all the crime families in New York, solving crimes committed within the organizations and between them.
It’s an idea Jacob and I have been toying with for a couple of years now, so it’s very surreal for it to finally come out. Beyond the main story, there’s also the first chapter of an awesome backup story about brothers and crime called Brooklyn Zirconia by Nadia Shammas and Ziyed Yusuf Ayoub. We’re going to do new backup features with every new arc, and I’m excited for everyone to check them out as we reveal them!
Jacob and I chatted with THE HOUSE OF NERD show about the book, but I’m afraid we ended up just talking about brush sizes and CMYK. Worth a listen if you like artists derailing their own promotional efforts!
Also, we’ll be LIVE tonight on COMIC BOOK CLUB! Anything can happen! ANYTHING!!!
ALSO! I’ll be doing a Reddit AMA tomorrow at 10am EST! Are you sick of me yet? I sure am!
YEAH YEAH I GET IT CREATOR-OWNED COMICS ARE GREAT WHAT ABOUT YOUR CORPORATE SELL-OUT BOOKS
Wow you can maybe take it down a notch? Yeah?
Well! I revealed this to my subscribers last week, but I went and done did a variant cover for my event book, DEVIL’S REIGN!
Like my NEWBURN variant, this one is available exclusively through The Beguiling! CHIPNUTZ subscribers will be getting two copies FREE, and Annual subscribers will get a sweet deal on them! But even if you’re NOT a subscriber, you’ll be able to get one! Signed or unsigned! I’ll be sending out the link over the next few days!
I love illustrating covers. I turn down most of those gigs these days as I wish I had more time to do them, but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. When’s the last time an event writer drew their own cover? Did Bendis ever do that?? Probably not (he’s a coward).
Anyway, as always, it’s never too late to subscribe, unless you’re reading this several years from now when I died of “event fatigue”.
And that’s it! I hope you enjoy Newburn! Tell your friend(s)! And we’ll be back Friday with KAPTARA GOODNESS!
Love,
Chip!
Hey that Newburn book is REALLY GOOD! Why didn't you tell us?!?
Chipnut here! Just checking...I don't need to put in an order for the Newburn or Devil's Reign variants, right?
