Okay, so, I did what I said I’d do: I left the woods and flew to Calgary and spent a night in an airport hotel signing comics like the absolute superstar that I am. I even ordered room service!!! The signing was handled by the fine folks at Comic Sketch Art and those books should be sent back to all you patient subscribers any day now!
I was actually incredibly moved by all the nice notes people included with their books! I didn’t expect to feel so emotional! The Comic Sketch Art people got to see me in my bathrobe covered in room service crumbs crying like a baby while dragging a Sharpie along so many books! Thanks to everyone for your patience and for being really sweet. A comic creator friend once said that they “judged creators by their fans” and I feel pretty blessed to be judged by those metrics!!!
When I finally got to Toronto, I found many, many boxes of comics waiting for me. The biggest box was for BATMAN 125. This is every variant cover that was in that box:
UPDATE: I found a couple more in another box.
tbh it’s a bit much
HOLY SHIT NO KIDDING
But who am I to judge?? I did a variant for PUBLIC DOMAIN #1 and my first stop here in Toronto was to The Beguiling to sign them all so FINALLY the people who bought them will get them!!
And, as always, they come with my LUSH CARD STOCK GOLD FOIL CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, signed and witnessed by myself!!! Interesting fact: it cost more to print the certificates than the comic!
INTERESTING FACT: YOU’RE AN IDIOT
Big fan of losing money!
While I was at The Beguiling I did a couple of bat-sketches and gave them a whole stack of signed BATMAN posters. I don’t know what they’re going to do with them. Probably put them through a paper shredder (they also love losing money). But if they do anything special with them I’ll let you know!
Speaking of Batman—
YOU WON’T SHUT UP ABOUT HIM ACTUALLY
Tomorrow the final issue of BATMAN: THE KNIGHT comes out!
What a treat it’s been to work on this with the immeasurable talents of Carmine Di Giandomenico and Ivan Plascencia. They managed to draw and colour all three hundred pages of this beast of a story even though it had no actual Batman in it. And they did it with beautiful style.
I hope everyone who’s been reading enjoys our finale, and for those who skipped it because—I don’t know—they’re on the run from the law or something? For you guys I’m sure there will be a collection of it all down the road. I think it’s pretty good!!!
I feel bad talking about Batman so much and not Daredevil, so here’s an action-packed sneak peek at the man himself blanching some tomatoes:
Don’t tell Marvel I showed you this!!!!
Bye!!!!!
Love,
Chip
love that matt is blanching those tomatoes with the suit on. tomatoes can be dangerous. gotta be ready at all times.
Thank you for the signatures!! Holy shit if all those BatMan 125's came from 1 sender there's a special place in hell for them and I imagine that place is them signing comics until they feel like they can't sign anymore and right when they get to the last one someone walks in and says "whoops forgot this box"
