Plus! Captain America and oh god speedy
So, last week I had two wisdom teeth taken out. Well, that’s not entirely true. One was taken out and the other had a coronectomy as it was touching the nerve in my jaw and removal could permanently damage the nerve. I won’t tell you what a coronectomy is because I care about you.
It went well, but my jaw is still numb because of aforementioned nerve stuff, which may be the case forever? And I can’t tell if that’s sexy or not? Let Ol’ Numbjaw know in the comments!
Sadly, while recovering, I got sick. A nasty cold preying on my delicate post-op immune system, so I’m writing this from bed. Again, sexy? Let Ol’ Beddytime Numbjaw know in the comments!
What does this mean for you, the reader? Well, it is increasingly looking like I’m not going to be able to make it to the CAPTAIN AMERICA screening on Saturday. I do have a special treat that I’ll make sure gets there, but I’ll more than likely be hibernating like a post-war Steve Rogers.
I shouldn’t even be using my precious life force to write this newsletter but there’s too much to talk about! For example, you may have seen this yesterday:
I’m Guest Editing MAD ABOUT DC, a 64-page, comic-sized MAD take on comics and the DC pantheon, featuring dozens of brilliant creators, out on APRIL 1!
Look, I can make jokes about how this is yet another example of me mismanaging my “career,” but man oh man I never thought I’d get a chance to draw Mr. Alfred E. Neuman and it’s actually incredibly cool. The project itself has been gargantuan, juggling a ton of genius freelancers while working on my own contributions, but you know what? It’s fun. Legit fun! Sometimes in comics you just gotta do the fun thing, you know?
My trusty MAD Intern on this endeavour has been DC’s Editor-In-Chief Marie Javins, and if you know Marie, she will drop everything for a joke book, so we’ve got our best and brightest minds on this project (aka no Ryan Stegman).

In SERIOUS COMICS NEWS, the new CAPTAIN AMERICA is out this week! We’re back in the modern day, post-Doom, and the world has changed. And Steve Rogers has some hard decisions to make.
Normally I wouldn’t post preview pages, but I think everyone needs to see how Delio & Frank (with Romulo on colours) are KILLING IT. Also, it’s always satisfying getting to write a Cap speech.

When I got my wisdom teeth out, infinity war had just come out and all the characters that turned to dust were on jello boxes. My best friend came over and was feeding me jello. I asked which flavor it wad and she told me it was Groot. This made me sob and I got dry socket. I wasn’t even loopy off meds, the delirium of pain made me an empath. Anyway, is Spider-Woman showing up in any of these marvel upcoming’s you got? Feel better soon!
