Newsletter #9: Podcastaways
Judge not lest ye be a judge like me, Judge Chip! Off to jail with you!
WHAT HAS CHIP DONE
As most of my readers will tell you, Ryan Stegman is a piece of shit. I wouldn’t say such things, because I respect the non-disparagement clause in my Marvel contract. Unfortunately, Ryan doesn’t respect the laws of man or Marvel, so he has backed himself into a legal corner, enabling me and my company (Zdarsco, Inc.) to wrest control of his podcast. The show, Stegman And His Amazing Friends, was an amateur production at best, a slap in the face to the concept of audio at worst.
So, now the podcast is CHIP Z AND HIS REAL FRIENDS. It is a star-studded spectacular thanks to my deep industry friendships.
Please enjoy our first episode. And yes, I did compose the theme song.
WHAT’S NEW WITH CHIP
This week INVADERS #10 is out!
It’s another gorgeous one from the team. For those who like such things, there’s a preview over at the AV Club.
The issue features some cool-ass fights and feelings and, most importantly, Namor inviting Captain America to come over for some wetflix & chill.
Also out! The second print of SPIDER-MAN: LIFE STORY #6!
I’m pleased as punch—as PUNCH, I say!—that even our last issue has gone into more printings. It turns out people do care about Spider-Man!
WHAT ELSE IS NEW WITH CHIP LEGALLY SPEAKING
Well, it’s that time of year again: re-negotiating my Marvel contract.
It’s a stressful time (for Marvel, not me) and we almost always see eye-to-eye. They treat me fairly and I create worlds for them woven from dreams and untold desires. My home is Marvel and their home is in my heart. But this year they have yet to respond to my contractual demands, which is unusual. I’m hoping they speed things up because, according to the rumor mill, I’m actually James Tynion pulling off quite the long con.
In any case, here is the email I sent with my demands.
Fingers crossed!
CHIP ANSWERS QUESTIONS
Every week I’ll answer one POLITE and RESPECTFUL question about my life as a podcaster or about my work. The email is zdarskyletters@gmail.com.
Hi Chip,
Still loving the newsletter. It always makes me smile and at times laugh.
What has been the biggest influence on your writing and your art?
All the best,
Marcy
Thanks for the question, Marcy.
Not sure.
Cheers,
Chip
now that i'm a paying subscriber, i'm excited that i can go back through the archives and comment on whichever ones i want to, like this one.
i'm not commenting on all of them because i'm like mark twain but more efficient: "i would have gotten you fewer comments, but i didn't have enough time, except i did, so that's what i'm doing. also this comment could be shorter but it's not, because i did run out of time but hope you're still glad that there aren't comments this long on EVERY post you've ever made."
thank you for your honesty! (in answering marcy's question.)
and
thank you for your NONesty everywhere else.
my question:
why isn't "dishonesty" or "non-honesty" called "nonesty"? is it because there's no "h"?
thanks for all things! you're great! (this is no-nonsense [or maybe some-nonsense] non-nonesty)
