Things here at Casa Del Zdarsky have been pretty wild this week!! First, Jorge has wrapped BATMAN 128, which has some very pretty drawings of Batman being Batman:
Plus, some really great layouts for BATMAN 129 of Batman having a nice little snooze after a long day of fighting crime!
On the Daredevil front, I got some excellent action layouts from Rafael for our story in DAREDEVIL #1. Why do I love working with Rafael so much? He not only puts in lettering placements to make sure all my stupid words fit, but he also … colour codes characters so we can keep track of who’s who?! ATTENTION ALL ARTISTS: THIS IS AMAZING AND WE SHOULD ALL BE DOING THIS HOLY SHIT
Also, I heard a rumour that there will be some Marco artwork form the new Daredevil shown this weekend?? It’s VERY GOOD
And DEVIL’S REIGN OMEGA is off to the printers today! So I’ve been greatly enjoying Federico’s colours coming in with Rafael’s art! I had to do a lettering pass this week to make sure it all works together. So pretty!!
For NEWBURN this week I have to go through the PDF today for issue seven and tackle the design pages and make sure my words still make sense!
I also had a nice ZOOM with a lot of Batman Editors and Tini and a mystery writer! It was mostly just Tini and I yelling at each other about whether or not Batman and Catwoman are meant for each other. In the end we decided that Batman was married to Gotham and Catwoman has been sleeping with Gotham and now Gotham is very confused as to whether or not they should stay with Batman or just have a very frank and open discussion abut Gotham’s needs and maybe they could consider an open marriage?
Anyway, it was fun and boy oh boy the next year of Bat-family stories are going to be WILD (and yes, the editors had some great ideas, but I will NEVER give them credit! Never!!!!)
Also this week I coloured all of Public Domain issue four and did the cover too! I love this part of the process. Drawing is hard, colouring is fun!
