Okay! First thing’s first! A WARNING!!
Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 is out today! Which is great because the issue is fun and exciting for all to enjoy!! Go buy it!
AND THEN DON’T READ IT.
At least not until next week when the next Devil’s Reign is in shops! Woman Without Fear #3 super spoils Devil’s Reign #5. Like, it really does. I want long-time Daredevil readers to not be spoiled and to enjoy the story as it unfolds, so you gotta read Devil’s Reign before Woman Without Fear!
I’m sorry! These things happen! Since I realized what went wrong this keeps going through my mind:
Interesting side note: when I searched for this gif the second result was Kieron Gillen’s tumblr. Of course it was.
Anyway, avoid twitter and spoilers! I’m sorry! The issue is really fun! Look at this Chris Bachalo cover! And the Rafael interiors are (chef’s kiss)!
HE’S SO GOOD I BET HE NEVER SCREWS UP LIKE YOU DO
Stop it! I’m already mad at myself!
Also out this week is NEWBURN #4! Another sweet done-in-one case with some pretty high stakes that will have repercussions that I will NOT spoil for you!
Here’s some ACTION though, beautifully delivered by the BEST Phillips IMO: Jacob!
In BATMAN news, I gave an interview to The Globe & Mail! It’s such a prestigious newspaper that it’s behind a paywall! So go support newspapers if you want to find out if I’m going to murder the Batman!
I also gave an interview to Forbidden Planet about our new Stillwater anthology!
Also! I had a nice time last week chatting with everyone but Ryan Stegman on his livestream! Everything’s okay. I’m fine.
Last week was wild with the Batman news. Which means I completely dropped the ball in telling you about GHOST CAGE from Caleb Goellner and Nick Dragotta, edited by Mangasplaining’s own David Brothers!
It’s about a giant corporation with a grip on all the literal power on Earth and their response to a terrorist attack. SPOILERS: There are monsters.
I read the first issue and it’s just fantastic. There are more fun ideas on each page than there are in most full issues. Nick is an art dynamo, a real master of scale and action. Even a spread like this, which is peaceful and quiet, just gives you such a sense of towering menace and terrifying odds!
I love this book so much. I posted too late for FOC (final order cut-off!), but you should still tell your retailers to put yourself down for a copy! It’s out on March 23! It’s great!!
Also great is the new novel from Alex Segura, Secret Identity! Alex has worked in comics for years, but is also an amazing crime novelist, so it was only a matter of time that he set a murder mystery in the world of the comic book industry!
Secret Identity takes place in New York during the 70s and is a perfectly researched piece of fiction revolving around the existing industry and characters of the time and Alex’s seamlessly integrated creations. Anyone who loves comics should check it out. You’ll show up for the Steve Gerber references, but you’ll stay for the driven protagonist of Carmen Valdez!
It’s out March 15 and you can check out more here!
And … I think that’s all that’s happening? I’m very tired. I know a lot of you come here for sneak peeks at upcoming projects, so here’s a spoiler-filled snippet of the Daredevil #1 script.
SHHH! DON’T TELL ANYONE
See you on Friday for new PUBLIC DOMAIN!
Love,
Chip!
