Yes yes I know I sent an email out yesterday but the news never rests and neither do I!!
YOU SHOULD PROBABLY REST
Tell THE NEWS that!!
Today the final issue of STILLWATER hits the shelves. Eighteen issues fully illustrated by the amazing Ramón Pérez and Mike Spicer, which is such a rarity in comics these days, a consistent creative team, that I can’t believe we were able to pull it off. Except I can, because these guys are the best, making every issue emotional and beautiful, whether my scripts called for town meetings or exploded faces.
It’s satisfying being able to see a project through to completion in comics. I’ve had the last page in my head since the start, and seeing it on the page was an incredible feeling.
I hope everyone who’s been reading it enjoys this final ride.
IS IT MORE OF A ‘TOWN MEETING’ ISSUE OR AN ‘EXPLODED FACES’ ISSUE
Uh … both?
OK
In OTHER news, Dark Horse just announced the print edition for THE ALL NIGHTER VOLUME TWO!
It’ll be out in December and …. maybe we’ll have some news about a Volume Three soon?? Maybe???
I FEEL LIKE THERE’S A VOLUME THREE
Maybe?????
Tell your shop to order you in a copy of VOLUME TWO and we’ll see!!!
In MORE New Release news, my FIRST BATMAN HARDCOVER IS OUT!!
I don’t have a copy just yet because of my nomadic lifestyle, so I’ll let Jorge show you:
So go get your copy of BATMAN: FAILSAFE! You deserve it!
To celebrate, here’s the foreward I wrote for our first issue in Spain:
Look, please don’t tell anyone, but writing Batman is easy. I just have to type things like “Batman walks into a room” and Jorge Jimenez draws the coolest, most beautiful drawing of a man walking that I’ve ever seen. I write “Batman eats some pancakes” and Jorge draws the coolest, most beautiful drawing of a man eating pancakes that I’ve ever seen.
Sure, I have to figure out some things for Batman to do, like pick up his laundry or adopt a dog or give a local restaurant a two-star rating because “the fried rice was cold,” but once I give the script to Jorge all my troubles are over and I can just sit back and wait for the accolades to come rolling in. Because he’s simply the best and makes everything look amazing. And then Tomeu Morey makes it all shine with his beautiful colour palette.
What you’re about to read is our first Batman issue of many. Jorge and I wanted to give the readers a non-stop ride where they get to experience a wild story that takes Batman to the depths of the ocean and the heights of the moon. I’ve been working in comics for a long while now and I can honestly say it’s all been building to this moment, getting to write words that inspire Jorge to blow everyone’s collective minds.
I hope you enjoy it!
-Chip
I THINK YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH JORGE
I will not dispute that fact
Finally, in more “foreward writing news,” I wrote the foreward for SKTCHD’s new print edition! It collects some great interviews and has a Declan-designed cover so you KNOW it’s worth your hard-earned dollar(s)!
okay I swear that’s it please have a nice day
Thanks chip! I hope you have a nice day too.
Oh well that issue was damn good. Perfect ending (beginning?) and maybe Ramon got even better at art which seems unfair?
I’ll miss this on the pull list though.
