ARMAGEDDON is finally here thank god
Good god, after, like, a year of teases, AVENGERS: ARMAGEDDON #1 is finally out today. I think it’s some fun, cool, big comics, but what do I know? It’s undeniably gorgeous thanks to Delio & Frank with Jesus Aburtov.

I think that’s it for this week? Honestly, I’ve been keeping my head down and working and planning ‘cause boy oh boy this summer is a lot. SEX CRIMINALS starts shooting in a couple of weeks and I’ve been seeing what they’ve been cooking up and … fuck. It’s so good, guys. The look, the feel, the cast, it’s all just perfect. Matt and I are going to travel to the set at some point soon and be absolute nuisances. It’s going to be surreal, I’m sure.
I just sent in the script for AVENGERS #5 yesterday, which launches the biggest thing I’ve worked on yet. Here’s a sneak peek with Spider-Man realizing the limitations of his “street level” team:
As you all know, I tend to stay the fuck off the Internet whenever possible, so the AVENGERS announcement was a day like any other for ol’ Chip. But I had a lot of old friends reach out, excited about me and Marco and this team, which felt nice! This is a pretty cool job, it turns out!
But I want you to know, I refuse to get cocky and phone it in. I’m always reminding myself to be true to the basic essentials of comic book storytelling.

This is the first summer marvel event I have been excited for in a long long while. Probably because it doesnt have the entire company line shoeing in tie-ins to it.
Also #### New America and #### Ross, that Red Hulking Fascist dressing himself up as a liberator and deliverer of Democracy. Sincerely hope this event cements him in the villain category for a long long LONG time. As if putting Cap in a coma wasn’t bad enough.
Also, why do I suspect that the next big bad for your avengers will end up being the most nefarious super villain group ever seen…the UN? …Nahhh, even you wouldn’t throw the whole world against earth’s mightiest heroes…right?
