THE DOMAIN

the comic within a comic whoa so meta

Okay, this is a big one.

Now, we all knew PUBLIC DOMAIN was coming back at Image, ‘cause I’ve been posting new issues here for my paid subscribers. But! I’ve been working on something else in seeeeecret:

That’s right! THE DOMAIN is real! As readers of PUBLIC DOMAIN know, our characters have started their own comics company, Dallas Comics, and are in the process of re-imagining Syd Dallas’s classic superhero character, The Domain! What will that look? It’ll look like this!

THE DOMAIN is a five-issue miniseries (with the possibility for more??) that’s the actual comic that our characters in PUBLIC DOMAIN are making! A classic superhero story of friends discovering strange new powers, illustrated by the incredible Rachael Stott and Eren Angiolini with lettering and design by Jeff Powell! It’s a ton of fun, and you can check out some pages below!

GORGEOUS. My favourite part is that Rachael and Eren’s styles are so much more detailed than mine, so the whole thing ends up being cartoon characters making a comic that’s more realistic than they are. OOPS

Anyway, this has been in the works for a while. Remember the end of volume one? When Dave sits down and inks his dad’s old-fashioned pencils?

Yup, that was Rachael. And paid subscribers will recognize her work in issue seven of PUBLIC DOMAIN as well!

We’re all really excited to finally be able to show you our work. The five issues of THE DOMAIN are complete and ready to go, and I’m pushing away on more PUBLIC DOMAIN. Issue ten of that series is extra-sized and maybe my favourite thing I’ve ever written? We’ll see!

So, yeah. Big news. I’m always amazed by Rachael and Eren’s work and it’s actually an honour to help put more of it out into the world. Go check out some more info and quotes from the team over at AIPT!

As for my dear subscribers, I apologize that I’ve fallen off posting chapters from issue eight. So, to make it up to you, I’m just going ahead and post THE ENTIRE ISSUE!

It’s a real “creator owned” week around these parts as I also got my copies of THE WHISPER QUEEN and THE WHITE TREES! Out in one week!

They’re so damned pretty. And it’s really nice seeing THE WHITE TREES all in one issue finally. If you haven’t read it, I definitely urge you to head to ye olde comic shoppe next week to procure a copy before you dive into THE WHISPER QUEEN.

Oh and hey, this is fun: KAPTARA was in The New York Times! That’s right, our dumb sci-fi fun-fest featuring a Motivational Orb is in “The Gray Lady”, like a serious piece of “literature!” Look at how close our book is to the NEW YORK TIMES logo!

This means we’re sophisticated! I am now expecting many invites to fancy New York soirees, which, I’m assuming all turn into Eyes Wide Shut parties.
