Today is a Very Special Day. My first, and arguably greatest Marvel series has been FULLY COLLECTED in a beautiful new hardcover!
Yes, the Howard The Duck Omnibus is out now.
This is all sixteen issues of my run with the inimitable JOE QUINONES, plus our crossover with Squirrel Girl, plus the Gwenpool backups by Christopher Hastings and Danillo Beyruth!
It is very dear to my heart.
And it was my first time writing Spiderman, a character who I’ve come to enjoy writing, even if I don’t respect him (and never will).
Joe Quinones is a national treasure. How lucky am I that HE’S the artist I got to work with right out of the Marvel gate? Oh, AND I got to write an issue for my personal art hero, Kevin Maguire! He really nailed that Spidey Sadness™!
Flipping through the issues again, I’m reminded how much fun I had on this book. Coming up in the next month, I’m going to go through and share what went into it, and highlight my favourite parts. For now, go out and buy it! Don’t wait and be filled with years of regret like the people who slept on the Daredevil hardcover!!!
Also, here’s a special blast from my slightly-less-old-looking past! The video that I made with my brother to promote issue one!
It’s VERY spicy!!!
OKAY ENOUGH NOSTALGIA ABOUT YOUR DAYS AS A “FUNNY” WRITER. GIVE ME THE ANGST, BABY!!!
Wow, that’s the first time you’ve called me “baby”
AND?
…I like it.
But yes! To the angst! This week is the release of issue two of our epic Young Batman series, THE KNIGHT! I was super keen to dig into this part of the story as I got to introduce a fun new cat-burglar mentor and add a nice twist to a previous relationship!
Carmine and Ivan give us a beautiful Paris for Bruce Wayne to run around in and have some coffee.
That Bruce! He’s so astute! I guess there’s nothing more for him to learn! Series over!
In other news, dear Friend Of The Stack Ryan North gave me an advance look at his new book, HOW TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD and I loved it!
I know that quote could be read as “Honestly, I think it changed my life! I now hate books!” but that is NOT THE CASE! It’s super fun, but there’s a chapter about the progression of time that actually sent me into a weird existential state that I don’t think I’ve fully recovered from? In a good way?!
Everything Ryan touches is a joy and this book is no exception. I love it and you’ll love it too.
Okay! I’ve got some SUBSCRIBER BUSINESS to take care of below, so all you non-subscribers be good and I’ll see you next week!
