Back from Seattle! And I had a GREAT time!
maybe too great
So, yeah, I’m down with the ‘vid. I am a weak Canadian boy so it may be a while before I’m back up and running at full strength
WHICH WASN’T VERY STRONG TO START WITH
yes yes that is very evident. Part of my sickness may be due to the crushing weight of 720 pages of SEX CRIMINALS that was waiting for me when I got back
TOO MUCH COMIC
Anyway, I mostly wanted to say how great Emerald City Comic Con was! I met some amazing readers and did a bunch of my classic doodles, most of which were chronicled by my table mate, Jim Zub, as what he called “evidence”(?). Below are some choice doods (doodles). One of which ended up getting tattooed on someone the next day! Also, a cool pic of me and a DD cosplayer!
Anyway, a good time. Highly recommended except for the covid.
This week BATMAN #145 came out, which is the start of our new arc, DARK PRISONS! Everything comes to a head here and Jorge and Tomeu are with us the whole way.
Bruce Wayne has a really shitty cellmate who will NOT shut up:
And there’s a NEW Batman on the streets of Gotham! A fun issue where we get some big answers, especially in our backup story with art by Michele Bandini and Alex Sinclair!
Also, this week, BATMAN #143 has its second printing out! Between Batman and Avengers: Twilight there have been a lot of multiple printings, which you can see at the bottom of this newsletter in my “upcoming books” section. Turns out people like Batman and the Avengers??
So, yeah, if you missed out on anything, there are more chances to read them!
Also this week, David Harper over at SKTCHD did a fun dive into what makes Daredevil such a good title to work on!
Well worth clicking through. And if you aren’t a subscriber yet, do it! Quality work over at SKTCHD. One of my key points in the article was this:
“One of the things that gets overlooked with Daredevil is that all the great runs are defined by a team, not just a writer,” Zdarsky said.
“Daredevil is the strongest argument toward maintaining a creative team.”
It’s so true. Our run involved a lot of people, but the spine was me and Marco. Consistency isn’t always possible, but it’s super important to try.
Okay! That’s it for today! I’m going back to bed.
Love,
Chip!

Struggling to say this in a funny or clever way, but feel better?
Hey chip will you ever return to Newburn/ contemporary crime fiction? I have really enjoyed the serialized reading of this incredible world and I didn’t realize it was about done until I read the last one and it said finale next and I was so disappointed. I would read a thousand volumes
