Okay okay there’s too much to get to so LET’S GOOOOO
Jacob is doing a signing for NEWBURN VOLUME 1 in London! I will not be there as I do not leave my house, let alone the country, but I’ll be there in spirit and my spirit will surely sign some books (to be witnessed and graded by spirit CGC). Go see him!!
Next! TEAM BATMAN talks BATMAN 127! Some light spoilers in there, so be careful!!! I’m so worried about you!!!!
Next! I talked to FORBIDDEN PLANET about PUBLIC DOMAIN!
Also, speaking of Forbidden Planet, they are taking pre-orders for signed hardcovers of GARTH MARENGHI’S TERRORTOME, which, if you’re anything like me, you’re salivating for. If you don’t know who Garth Marenghi is, holy shit are you in for a treat. GARTH MARENGHI’S DARKPLACE is maybe the best tv show of all time?? It also introduced me, and the world, to the perfection that is Matt Berry:
In FRIEND NEWS, the new writer of FANTASTIC FOUR has been revealed and it’s …
FRIEND OF THE STACK RYAN NORTH!! This is VERY exciting! Ryan is the perfect choice and I have the inside scoop on his plans and they’re fuckin’ delightful, just like him! He’s the smartest person I know, so him writing the world’s smartest man makes almost too much sense??
In ENEMY NEWS, Mark Waid is writing a BATMAN VS. ROBIN miniseries and, I am saddened to say, it is very, very good. And holy SHIT, Mahmud Asrar on art is a REVELATION. He just keeps getting better and better!
Check out this video with Mark to find out more and get a nice, classic senior-citizen-using-an-ipad low angle on his face! Lookin’ good, Mark!!!
In FRIEND/ENEMY NEWS, I have had a very rocky time with Kagan McLeod lately. Obviously he’s been delivering stunning KAPTARA pages, but he’s been aloof, disappearing for long stretches of time. I’d ask him about this change in our relationship, but he kept telling me it was none of my business, that sometimes a man just needs some space, that I can be “stifling” and “a bit much.”
Then he announced this:
Unbelievable. I thought we were BEST FRIENDS and it turns out he’s been two-timing me (and, by extension, YOU) with Marvel Studios??
As most of you know, I am scared of strong women, so I had to skip by the first episode to see Kagan’s work and, man, it’s really, really great:
So! To celebrate, here’s a short interview I did with Kagan yesterday about how this all happened!
CHIP: Kagan, your art in the end credit of She-Hulk is amazing. Working on a Marvel Studios property is the holy grail for so many artists (and writers!) as these characters hold such a special place in the pop culture zeitgeist. In a lot of ways, they’re our modern mythology. Can you tell us a little but about how this once-in-a-lifetime job came to be?
KAGAN: They saw my art and hired me.
Amazing! Apparently there are new additional illustrations in future episodes so look out for that!
Speaking of Kagan, here, not even behind a PAYWALL, is the latest KAPTARA instalment! Only because I need the whole world to see these perfect and hilarious drawings of fan-favourite Skullthor!
And, as a special bonus, I asked Kagan for the full file of Skullthor’s amazing shirt:
I hope we don’t lose him forever to She-Hulk.
Kagan! I can change!!
If you love this and me and HAVEN’T subscribed, well, you should go for it!!
$40 for a year of quality content?? That’s WILD.
Bye!!!!
When can we start selling those t-shirts?
I said this on Twitter but I wanted to make sure this got to you. The Spanish Deluxe edition of Spiderman Life Story+Annual came out, along with the interview you gave to me a few months ago. People are liking it sp far! Thanks again for your help
