If someone had told 12-year-old me that one day I would be able to send a note to one of my favorite creators or buy a piece of art or, honestly, just be able to say hi, I would've laughed at the absurdity. I hope you guys also hear from us fans about how much your work means to us, too.
I was just listening to a podcast this week where the question of favorite 1970s-80s artists came up. The two names that immediately came to my mind were Butch Guice and Michael Golden.
Certain creators give me a sense of excitement and relief when I see their names in the credits/masthead, because I know going into the story that I'm in good hands. Butch Guice was definitely one of those creators.
Thanks for writing this, Chip. He was a giant. I never had the pleasure of working with him, but his work speaks for itself and he loss is massive for all of us and the medium we all love.
Chip, I am so sorry. I was gutted to hear about Butch earlier today. Love that Always an Invader mini series and Butch’s work with Ed Brubaker too. Butch conveyed so much in his art and his era specific work was so beautiful.
Astonished to hear he was your original Daredevil artist, he would have been fantastic! I am glad you worked with him on the Invaders mini.
Thanks so much for sharing your memories and this art.
Sending a virtual hug & condolences to you, and Butch’s family, friends, and peers.
There are too many artists whose work I don't get to know until after they've passed. That said Butch Guice, any time I clocked it, always impressed me. I hope all of his family, friends and co-workers are doing ok ❤️
it sucks to lose someone n someone you admire , it hits us in the heart so damn hard , Im glad you got to work with him! he's a wonderful artist . R.i.p Jackson “Butch” Guice :(
So, so glad you got to work with him.
Tell everyone we work with how much their work means to us, because time snatches it all away before we know it.
enh maybe tomorrow

A beautiful tribute, Chip.
May his memory be a blessing as his art was.
Those pages are beautiful!

My condolences. His late-80s Dr. Strange work absolutely blew my mind when I was a kid.
Well said, Mr Zdarsky. Well said.
