Issue #157 of BATMAN is out this week, marking the end of my 32-issue, two-and-a-half year stint on the title. To say it’s been a dream gig is an understatement. Batman is my all-time favourite character, so getting to write his adventures month after month made me goddamn giddy. But! It’s not a forever job, and I wanted to make sure I left while I still felt excitement over the work I was doing. This final issue was special to me, getting to close it out with my partner in (fighting) crime, Jorge Jimenez. Beautiful, talented Jorge. The hardest part of leaving is not getting to work with him. The second hardest part is not getting all those bat-bucks anymore. Oh well!!
But for real, thanks for reading. It was truly a joy.
In Very Important News this week, PUBLIC DOMAIN VOL. 2 is in comic shops finally!!
When you’re working on something in single issues you’re always wondering “is this good?” But now that it’s all together in one volume I can finally look at it and sincerely say, “Yes! It IS good!” There are fun new characters, family drama, and maybe my favourite issue that I’ve worked on, ever! So, you should go pick it up and read it, okay?
Speaking of PUBLIC DOMAIN, I did an interview with OWEN LIKES COMICS about it all! Owen is very smart and nice, so of course he’s a fan. Check it out…if you dare??

Oh, hey! This Saturday I’m doing a signing! Just north of Toronto at the VERY cool WAYSIDE COMICS & COCKTAILS in Newmarket! The signing is from 11-1:30 and there will be a “Drink & Draw” from 1:30-2:30! I will not be drinking (I get too slutty) but I will be drawing (slutty). Come on out!
Also, I’ll be coming to PHOENIX, ARIZONA in June for Phoenix Fan Fusion! There will be a 25% tariff on everything I sign!
I think that’s it this week? I know it LOOKS like I’m unemployed, but I’m working on a lot of stuff, I swear!!

Still can’t believe the adventure is over. There’s something very special about this run. It felt, for lack of a better word, complete from start to finish. So many runs have so many stories that could be their own things, but this…from start to finish it all felt like one amazing story. And that’s something that I don’t think many still do anymore. Hence why I’m gonna be sad at ur leaving.
BUT!!!
The return of the legendary Jeph Loeb does balm the hurt a little, won’t lie.

I’ll miss u on the DC marquis, especially when u had so much more to contribute I can already imagine. But I’m very happy we had u for the time we did, and will NEVER forget any of it.
