Okay, so, my wife does not read my newsletter all the time (why would she? She LIVES with a walking, talking, hunky version of the newsletter!), but we went for drinks with Kagan McLeod and his wife on the weekend and he brought up my newsletter last week about how she only knows two things about Batman. She was displeased and insisted that she knows more than two things about Batman. But, between you and me, she comes across like that time when Trump was asked about his favourite Bible verse:
“You mentioned Batman, you've been talking about how it's your favorite book and you said, I think, last night in Iowa, some people are surprised that you say that. I'm wondering what one or two of your most favorite Batman issues are?”
“I wouldn't want to get into it because to me that's very personal. You know what, I talk about how Batman is very personal so I don't want to get into it, I don't want to get into it. Batman means a lot to me but I don't want to get into specifics.
“Even to cite an issue?”
“No, I don't want to do that.”
“Are you a Silver Age guy or a Modern guy?”
“Probablyyyyy equal. I just think Batman is just something very special.”
Anyway, I love my wife very much and I’M SORRY I PUT YOU IN MY NEWSLETTER AGAIN
Last week the one-shot collection of THE WHITE TREES sold out immediately! There was a press release and everything!
THE WHITE TREES ONE-SHOT RUSHED BACK TO PRINT AFTER THE WHISPER QUEEN CUSTOMERS WIPE OUT INVENTORY
Fans returned to the world of Blacksand in droves this week with the release of The White Trees—by New York Times bestselling, Eisner Award winning writer Chip Zdarsky (Newburn, Batman) and fan-favorite Kris Anka (Across the Spider-Verse)—as a conveniently collected one-shot edition. This combo issue was wiped out completely at the distributor level and is being rushed back to print in order to keep up with growing demand. The reprint will feature new cover art by Anka.
Collected together for the first time, The White Trees one-shot includes both The White Trees #1 and The White Trees #2 and provides readers with a tantalizing extension to the Blacksand world they enjoyed in this week’s The Whisper Queen launch.
“I’m beyond excited that new readers are rediscovering this book [The White Trees] years later,” said Zdarsky. “I genuinely think it’s the best book I’ve ever been associated with, and I think our sequel, The Whisper Queen, continues that quality. I mean, Kris Anka and Matt Wilson are worth the price of admission alone!”
Anka added only: “hot damn!”
Very happy about this. Go pick it up and then grab issue one of THE WHISPER QUEEN to see what happens next!
And here’s the cover to the second printing!
Lot of discussion between Kris and I as to what the cover should be:
In non-sexual comic news, BATMAN 147 is out today! It’s my favourite issue of our run so far. Cool Jorge action, some sweet moments, some wild reveals. It’s got it all! But, for you, here’s a sneak peek at Jorge drawing the CLASSIC Batman costume!
BRING IT BACK FOR GOOD YOU COWARD
Maybe I’ll put up a Kickstarter and if I make a million dollars I’ll put him back in this costume FOR GOOD. Is that legal??
I DON’T SEE WHY NOT
Good enough for me!!!
Here’s something super fun! I was asked recently to be a part of this project that the CBC was putting together. the idea is that you (virtually) draw a random card to get inspiration from a Canadian artist! There are a bunch of Canadian comic artists in there, so have fun clicking through and getting INSPIRED! My contribution is not very inspiring. Kate Beaton gave ACTUAL good advice.
That’s it! Bye!

The contrast in writing between Tim and Damian were let’s say very interesting …
The moments between Bruce and Tim was still heartwarming and very much appreciated on that front.
