Look, I love telling you what books are coming out this week. It’s my PASSION. For example, the collection of JUSTICE LEAGUE: LAST RIDE by myself, Miguel Mendonca, and Enrica Angiolini is out this week:
But I worry I spend too much of this newsletter projecting the idea that I’m “successful” and “perfect.” It’s NOT true!
I KNOW
Well, yeah, YOU know, but the PEOPLE don’t!
I’ve had my fair number of failures too. Some in public. Here are just a few:
1: THE TIME I BLEW MY CHANCE TO WRITE WOLVERINE AND STAR WARS
2: THE TIME I BLEW MY CHANCE TO WRITE CAPTAIN AMERICA AFTER MY PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE MOVIE “CIVIL WAR”
3: THE TIME I GOT FIRED FROM STAR-LORD FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH
4: THE TIME I BLEW MY CHANCE TO WRITE “CAPTAIN CARROT” IN THE MIDDLE OF A RECOMMENDATION LETTER FOR A FRIEND WHO WANTED TO WRITE “CAPTAIN CARROT”
5: THE TIME “MATT” FRACTION GAVE ME THE BEST BATMAN IDEA BUT I WAS TOO MUCH OF A COWARD TO USE IT
So, yeah. As you can see, I’m not perfect. I’m “human” just like most of you. So, when you go to your local comic shop today, make sure to ask for JUSTICE LEAGUE: LAST RIDE, written by “the flawed, humble human named Chip Zdarsky.”
Have a great week!!!!!!!
Chip, did you read Tom Brevoort's latest post where he talks about Marvel parties in the '90s? It's completely hilarious. Basically models in cosplay were pouring vodka down ice sculptures of Professor X while artists (I assume it was the artists and not the writers) were blowing lines and banging it out in the bathroom.
Chip! What about the time you suggested “four Jokers” in a tweet? That was one of my favorites.
