Chip, your "upcoming" New York Comic Con signing has already passed, like tears in the rain.

i want people to know that they missed it

Was there anything else in the newsletter I missed?

I just skipped right to the end to check your upcoming books and events and *BAM* there it was, disappointment that you will never sign anywhere else ever again.

Avengers are avengin' and Kagan and I are total hunks

Okay, cool.

I thought we had an agreement that I did Avengers stuff and you did Fantastic Four stuff. This seems like a mild breaking of the blood oath we swore under that crimson moon.

Expand full comment

oh it's FUTURE Avengers stuff. Marvel won't let me do anything that "counts"

*whew* Okay. The children are saved.

Thank god for continuity, amiright?

Cap in the Avengers?! I never put that together, even with Chip's massive spoiler blunder.:(

I HATE ALL SPOILERS!!!!

Then you would hate my obnoxious neighbor’s car

Damn you Chip! But also, thank you for the wonderful donation! I will give you the heads up now for next year, mark it in your calendar. Also, feel free to promote anything I do in every newsletter, like "Subscribe to Actual Dracula on YouTube". Something like that. It may not help cure cancer, but it will cure most other diseases. Especially bovine maladies such as rinderpest.

sleepyreader666 bought your sketch! I watch his YouTube channel. If he likes you, you know you’ve made it (and you thought it was Batman)!

Loving your work and really looking forward to that Howard the Duck one shot.

I'm glad it went to a good home!

If a Zdarsky takes a picture in the woods, does it make a sound?

Also, those would make neat variant covers if you felt alright with sacrificing a couple hundred more trees

I say it’d be worth it!

haha we'd sell dozens of copies! Dozens!!

Thank you for not linking the spoilery article. I surely would have clicked it and been upset due to a total lack of self control.

I'm not a spoiler prude, but I do appreciate being able to enjoy things as purely as possible now and again.

Avengers: Twilight is a book I know literally nothing about story wise but I'm looking forward to buying my first Avengers comic.

And congrats on getting close to curing cancer, I hear they're only 26 dollars short now, and then they can bribe it to go away

Gotta get one of those autumnal jumpers!

Love your answer in that interview. I agree. It's so much more satisfying going in relatively blind. Chip? Check. General premise? Check. That's all I need. The Hunks in the woods photoshoot was just icing on the cake.

Hi Chip,

That Bats piece is very nice, and nicer still it was auctioned off to fight cancer.

I subscribed to Avengers Twilight. Looks great.

If you and Kagan appear together in the woods, does that mean we will hear about another series by your Great White Northern selves soon? If not, I’ll say it’s nice to see Hunks of Canadian comic book bacon in your natural habitat.

Any chance of Rafael de LaTorre doing some Bat things for you when he’s done with The Penguin? Just rereading DDv. 7 #11 and am still leveled by your work together. I keep cheering at Matt’s eye-for-an-eye move (Still blown away at how brilliant that is.)

Hope you have a lovely week Chip, and are not too upset by finding that Batboy doppelgänger painting.

Sadly (for me), Kagan is back to work on a graphic novel that he also wrote. What's with these artists who write??

And boy oh boy I'd love to work with Rafael again. But, I'm a stupid man and was the one who suggested him for Penguin. Now Tom King will never let him go!!!!

Expand full comment

Darn that Kagan! All these artists who write are inspired by you, Chip.

Shall I politely ask Tom King to let Rafael go back to you post-Penguin?

Oh, if older Steve Rogers in Avengers Twilight is based on Robert Redford (Cool!) and Matt Murdock is based on younger Robert Redford (Yum! Not Sorry!), when does Matt become Steve? Or not because Matt was resurrected as a priest?

May you have a happy week writing about Batboy, Public Domain, Newburn, etc.

Thanks as always, Chip.

First off, I don’t ever want to keep my eyes out. I like them where they are. Maybe when I get even older I’ll have to take my teeth out but I’ll be keeping eyes in!

Also, I now want Alex Ross to paint me in an action pose. Eyes in of course.

Expand full comment

God, I would love an Alex Ross portrait of myself, as long it wasn't as cutting as Jorge's portrait of me!!!!

Expand full comment

I’m sure Jorge made that um, feral-looking portrait out of sheer jealousy. Clearly the man has self-esteem issues.
