I’m not a smart man. When you’re given the gift of a Batman run, you’re supposed to parlay that into something big and lucrative. So far, my next two projects are the above free magazine and a short story in a free comic for Marvel:

For anyone thinking this is the launchpad for some BIG THING, nope! It was a pitch from Friend Of The Stack Tom Brevoort for a four page gag strip. I’m writing and drawing it because, as I’ve said, I follow my passions and have zero idea how to manage a career in comics.

The first interior work I ever did for Marvel was ten years ago and it was a two page gag strip in the Original Sins anthology series. In ten years I’ve gone up to four pages, so things are looking up for the ol’ Chipper!!

Speaking of COMICCOMPSCON24, we’ve added one more talented comic book artist who is drowning in comps! SCOTT HEPBURN! Yet another reason to come on down to the RAID Gallery & Cafe on December 14!

And, last, but not least, BATMAN #155 is out this week! Drawn by my pal Jorge Fornes! It’s a real character piece on Mr. Jim Gordon and Jorge was the perfect man for the job.

Super proud of this issue. Getting to do a Newburn-style mystery in Batman has been VERY satisfying.
