Hi Chip!

Congratulations on the TPB release and triumph over covid ;)

I'm glad that I have caught up with Public Domain on comixology. I really love it. Just 5 issues you already proved why comics amazed Tanya - to create a world on just pages and make the readers connect to it. I smiled, laughed with them, struggled for their struggles, and cheered for their achievements and growth.

Unfortunately I missed the pre-order deadline at my LCS but for sure I won't miss the volume 2.

All the best!

Hi Chip,

Glad you’ve kicked Covid to the curb and are on the mend. May Public Domain sell enough so you can take four weeks off.

Thanks for writing such great stories (Very curious how Matt will rise above the reveal in DD 7 and his self-doubt.)

Feel better soon!

You never talk too much. Your newsletters are one of only two that I actually look forward to reading.

Hey Chip, Patrick here, given that you’re writing Batman and all now I was wondering how you define the original three Robins. What do Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake mean to you as a reader/ fan of the characters/comics, as the writer of said comics, and what do you think they mean to Bruce Wayne? I’m beyond glad you’re feeling better cause I’d rather give money to you than Ryan Stegman (this is a joke, he’s a cool dude). Have a good one

Looking forward to all five individual "Deluxe Treasury Hardcover "Process Edition"" re-issues of Public Domain first five issues [i.e. ""Volume One""]! Having three copies of #1 (bought 1 at launch, and both the autograped with Zdarco CoA 'Cover A' and 'Cover B - Chip Zdarsky Variant' from some shady company in the UK) is not yet enough!

myq (my Q)

I'm so glad that you're loving the indie work, since they're my favourite (I'm so selfish!)

Also so glad that you're continuing to heal, though the cough and exhaustion must suck :'( Been there (though not with covid yet, touch wood), done that, got the lung surgery scars.

My BFF bought me my favourite Xmas present this year, a "Don't Worry, Be Worry" baseball shirt. Thanks again for Sex Criminals! (Geeze there's a sentence you don't want taken out of context)

Chip, I just want to know if you based Daredevil’s scratchy beard on your own. Thanks, that’s all

Chip,

As someone who reoriented their life around not catching covid, I picked up that you might be doing someone similar when listening to Mangasplaining and reading your substack. It's really helped me to be able to think that you're trying not to get sick as well, makes me feel less alone.

I hope that your recovery goes well.

Best of luck for the launch, glad to know that you never personally had to deal with those infamous „Screw the creators“-deals from the big publishers (or at least knew what you were getting into, unless you expected to walk away with the rights to Batman or something)

All I see is Batman 2099 now.

Well I'm glad to hear you survived covid, your immune system must be just as strong as your writing, ..and your arms?I've been looking forward to this 1st volume of PD so that I can hammer it all out in one shot while I "drop the kids off at the pool" (make toilet). Also, not really a question but more of a suggestion... this "Batman 2099".... I think he should be dark and gritty, with a Chip on his shoulder. That's a take I'd like to see. Well, that's it for now. Take care. Your friend, D.

Congrats, let’s hope your subscribers and consumers decide to pick up enough copies of volume 1 so you can retire for those full two weeks. Sounds like u could use the R&R

Been taking the chance to read back through ur Batman and DD work recently, and unsurprisingly, I have a few questions I’d like to leave for your perusing pleasure sir.

Red Mask, this mysterious villain in the other Gotham (which by the way does it have its own designation in the multiverse), if Failsafe was described as being an unstoppable force that Batman just couldn’t escape, how then does Red Mask differ as an antagonist for Bruce and Batman? What makes him dangerous in a way Failsafe isn’t?

As for DD, I understand that Jason Aaron’s Punisher series is a 12 issues max series, which has me wondering, does that mean your Red Fist Saga will end around the same time that his Punisher series does, or does the story still keep on even after those 12 punisher issues finish up? I ask because after the last issue, and what’s coming up next in DD, I do not know if we are already heading into the endgame, or just the half way point in this epic you guys are making.

Anyway, hope u get to feeling better Chip (Lord knows I just got over literally 3 weeks of horrible asthma and other ills that plagued me, but am finally on the mend at last) and hope that you get those two weeks of retirement you so clearly want so badly.
