Look on the bright side - my financial ruin means some comic creators might, like, be able to afford a large fry at McDonald's, maybe? But the real win is all my money going to a nice corporation instead of greedy independent artists

Finally sat down with Avengers: Twilight and, well, it shook me some. I once joked with you a while back that you should write Captain America and, at least in issue 1, you did. And it's great. But it really got to me, for reasons maybe too long to go into in a comment, so here's a very sloppy, condensed version:

I know this is a safe space where we can talk about penises and vibrators, but politics tends to be trickier? I wear my left-leaning proclivities on my sleeve, so it's unsettling that Hydra and Red Skull are no longer stand-ins for Nazis; there's no need to be metaphorical or allegorical. We're actually talking about Nazis today. We're talking about history being re-written/re-framed.

Anyway ... Captain America, like Superman, is just one of those characters onto whom we can project how feel and act. This first issue felt real, and not in the way way Bendis would do real but actually contemporary and relevant. (J.M. is doing similar smart things on the main Captain America title, but this hit close to home.) Maybe because I've had these eerily same conversations with my wife (minus, you know, super-soldier serum!), but this didn't exactly feel like projection but a mirroring. A salient take on a lot of private conversations probably already happening -- even though you pitched this like eons ago! So, yeah, good stuff and thanks.

Oh, and Daniel's art! Can't say enough, though I probably just did! :)

Oh man, thanks so much. It's VERY weird to me for this thing I wrote in 2019 to be coming out now. And I love Cap (and Superman!). They're both hopeful characters, which is rare.

Oh WOWOWOW! Looks at Marco’s prelim designs for Fist “King” Matt and DIES. My death is only temporary… because comics. So now that I am alive again...

My gosh, those are freaking beautiful. Beautiful. I love that Marco echoed his first sketches for Matt with the turtleneck too. So amazing. Thank you Chip (& Marco). I loved King DD from the start, but these prelims cement my love.

Grinning like somebody who just read Sex Criminals…and your Daredevil run for the umpteenth time. Should I cry? Looks at Marco’s art again… YES! YES! (Okay, I promise not to make a complete fan woman mess of mess of — looks up. Whoops.)

Congratulations on 10 years of Sex Criminals too, the collection sounds neat. And thank you for making my week.

Thanks again, Chip. Have an awesome weekend.

As the world's #1 Sexual Gary fan I'd be crestfallen if his Special didn't make it into this. That said you KNOW that DM Variant order's been locked in.

Sadly ... Sexual Gary did not make the cut. SORRY.

I like to think the working title for the project was "Bigger Softer Sex Criminals." I already have the original trades, but if we didn't live in a hypercapitalist hellscape I definitely would've gotten the hardcovers, and then this one too (for lending out, maybe?)

Also, as an artist, I find Marco's work disgusting and infuriating. In a good way, though! What I mean is, it's gross and I hate him, but like from a place of genuine intense admiration?

When's Batman going to be broken enough that he too winds up with a Chip beard? At least Newburn keeps his stubble under control.

YES! MORE Sex Criminals! I know, I know...it's a collected edition & nothing "new" but when you start aging & start forgetting things, everything becomes new again....eventually. And soft. So .... uh.... yeah.....Time is a heartless bastard. Anyway, gotta go order something big, pink & soft. ;-)

Ha! I find that getting to re-enjoy things is the ONLY good part about aging

Yep! And I just had a nostalgic synapse fire when reading your response...a pic of ya'll I saw on Twitter during HeroesCon 2014 (first one after Sex Criminals came out) where it's a pic of Matt's hands holding crocheted dolls someone made brimping and you in the background, literally on the floor, laughing. Ah, the good times.

I remember trying to explain how great Sex Criminals was to friend and family, and they were like "is this for, your job?"

And these behind the scenes of Daredevil are just gorgeous. That costume was so fucking cool.
