Happy Canada Day!

I chose to read the title of this post as "Chipping Out". I don't know what that would mean exactly, but I'm here for it anyway.

Hey Chip, it’s your best pal Connor!

Really loved captain america #1! I’m starting to see where you’re going with this one and I’m really excited! Valerio’s art is superb and I really want to shoutout Frank Martin. He’s one of the best colorists in the game and I think he really helped set the tone here while bringing out the best in Valerio’s pencils.

This story really hits home for me as I grew up in NY post 9/11 and unfortunately knew many kids in my highschool that were a lot like David. So I’m really excited with the idea of our ol pal cap coming face to face with this idea.

Thanks for the quality comics chip! Looking forward to the next one!

You really write a stellar Cap, regardless of the timeline. I really love the repositioning here. Similar to what you did with DD and Batman, you looked at a core myth, in this case being a “man out of time,” and tried to reframe it differently, as in what would THIS man do in THIS time? (Also love the Brubaker vibe. I know that’s not intentional but I do mean it as highest of praise.) Brilliant stuff.

i really liked your captain america's first issue. honestly not a character i was interested in at first but i guess it was just a matter of storytelling. it's weird because it's the second time it happens to me with a character you're writing/wrote and that i never thought I'd grab a comic book. first one was daredevil and now is my fave, though I hope it doesn't happen the same with cap (me liking the character sooo much) cuz since I'm Mexican it'd a shame, damn it.

anyway, your captain america is so great i feel like i should thank you, it'sgot me so invested.

also, i never thought of you as a basic bitch this information was life changing.

wait wdym there's a day for a fake country??

good luck in the forest, chip!!

ps, i think you should listen to "out of the woods by taylor swift" once you come back, that'd be very basic bitch-y, woods-y and funny tbh

I really hope *someone* doesn't end up on the wrong side of history. They are very likable so far. Really, REALLY strong start. I was not prepared for that first page. Incredible stuff, well done.

Happy (belated) Canada day! To celebrate, I think I'm going to go out and buy Captain America #1 written by one of the best things to ever come from the Great White North. God bless Canada (and Chip too, i guess).

Hi Chip,

Happy Belated Canada Day! 🇨🇦🍁🇨🇦

Very interesting “facts” 🫡😉.

One Cap Cowl question: Will Valerio’s awesome Art Deco cowl wings transition into the present day stories too. These wings add such a unique silhouette and wink to the past.

I ♥️🤍💙’d Captain America #1. Can’t wait to see Dr. Doom. I loved how deep this issue was.

I also enjoyed the preview of White House Robot Romance (& the crispy Roasted potatoes tip - more recipes please!), and your Basic Bitching on The Stacks video with David Brothers.

May your Forest frolics continue to be fun.

Pardon my plug: My mostly non-spoiler review is below if you want to read. Psst my ‘Stack may be where I post my Daredevil etc. long form articles and eventual interviews (Thank you again for agreeing to talk about DD with me!)

Thanks for everything Chip. May you have a great week.

I just read your Captain America #1, Chip, and didn't want to wait til your next post to tell you what a lovely job you did. I'm excited to see where you take the story. I doubt these words convey my strength of feeling about it, but I will leave it at that, nonetheless. Thank you for the heart you put into this.

This was such a great #1! So many great moments of comics storytelling, like the juxtaposition of David's journey with Cap's letters and the subtle reveal on the first page where we can just see Cap's boots and shield as he is sitting at the counter.

This will certainly be a historical Cap #1!! I keep thinking about that sliding timeline and what it means for existing Cap stories. Was Steve a busy bee running around having decades worth of adventures post 9/11? Or will we have another 1950’s William Burnside-like retcon?

Ha! I mean, ALL Marvel characters have had a wildly busy decade or so when you really think about it

Dear Chip,

Congrats on Canada having a day! And also Captain America!

Funny great piece as always. To prove it to other people who might be reading this comment, here are some of the funny great pieces of this funny great piece:

"I do not believe that Canada should be the 51st state. I think it should be maybe the 56th or 57th. I want to see how the next few states work out before I make my final call."

"Steve Rogers actually can’t say no to helping you move. He could be in the middle of a battle against the Red Skull for the fate of the world, bleeding and dying, and if you said, 'Hey, while I’m thinking about it, I need a couple of extra hands next Tuesday to move out of my building' Steve would spit out some blood and go 'what time do you need me?'"

"America is a great idea."

Thank you for sharing!

Question: have you thought about moving to America and writing a comic called Captain Canada?

Thank you for all you do including that maybe!

Love

Myq
