This is a QUICK newsletter—
THANK GOD
…ahem. This is QUICK newsletter because I have a Very Special Issue out today. It’s the Annual for SPIDER-MAN: LIFE STORY.
DOES “ANNUAL” MEAN THERE’S GOING TO BE ONE OF THESE EVERY YEAR?
No.
This was a story I really wanted to tell in the original miniseries, but didn’t have the space. One of my favourite characters of all time is J. Jonah Jameson, and I’m really happy I got to revisit him again with Mark Bagley, aka Mr. Spider-Man artist. Mark is so good and so fast that he drew this entire issue IN-BETWEEN DRAWING PAGES OF AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Anyhoo, it’s a good one, I think, and if you’ve read our miniseries, you should run out and grab this.
Also, I got to do the cover!
Speaking of me doing covers, I’ve been illustrating Joker: Puzzlebox covers over at DC, which has been a ton of fun, and these are the latest two released for issues 3&4!
NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOUR ART WRITER-BOY
I … okay. Sorry.
In that case, remember how I told you I wrote a Daredevil short story for Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day offering? Well, you can get it here! For free! Because it’s FREE Comic Book Day, see!
Also, if you like my writing but hate my art AND you’ve subscribed to my newsletter, then you’re in for a treat on Friday as the first new Kaptara scene will be hitting your inbox! It’s not too late! It’s, like $5.83 a month on the yearly plan! Wow!
God I missed those cat-tanks.
ME TOO
Speaking of subscribers, I talked at length about Substack, my career, my psychological hang-ups, etc., with David Harper at SKTCHD! It got weirdly deep??
And in other Substack news, apparently Jonathan Hickman is interviewing Grant Morrison to come work on his Substack? I hope he gets the job!
But for real, Hickman and his crew are making some fun stuff over on their Substack. I don’t mind if you put your $5.83 a month over there instead. I get it.
NO YOU IDIOT DON’T TELL THEM TO—
I get it
Chip, that Annual cover is SO FUCKING GOOD.
Again, wonderful job with the Annual, I can't recomend it enough to any Spider-Man and Jameson fans.
I hope you get to write the character again, whether it's the Spider's Shadow sequel or some main canon project like Spectacular
