Okay, so, it’s been a TIME for the ol’ Chipster!!!
Los Angeles was wonderful after the wild day getting there. ComicsPRO was amazing, the retailers were great, and I’ll have more to say about that in my next newsletter. Also took a bunch of “Hollywood meetings,” and let’s just say things are looking up for your comics pal here…
AND SPEAKING OF HOLLYWOOD MEETINGS…
I flew to New York to attend the DAREDEVIL premiere!!!
There are some things in the series inspired by my work, but the coolest part is that COLE NORTH, the character created by Marco and I, is in the show, played by the awesome actor Jeremy Earl!
This is Marco and I meeting Jeremy at NYCC, literally seconds after finding out he was in the show. It was very surreal and Jeremy was incredibly kind and cool. So then I had to KEEP IT A SECRET FOR MONTHS
Until now!
The saddest part was that Marco couldn’t make it all the way from Italy. Luckily, Jeremy brought a copy of our first trade so we could gush over Marco’s amazing art and I could sign it for the ACTUAL COLE NORTH
Like I said, surreal.
The screening was amazing. I went with fellow Daredevil writer Charles Soule and it was especially fun seeing his work on the big screen. There’s no Mayor Fisk without Charles (and Ron!), and Muse is going to be terrifying, trust me.
We chatted a bunch with Charlie Cox, who was very gracious and kind of handsome. So, to commemorate how kind of handsome we all are, we got this very nice photo together.
BEARD HUNKZ
The show is great, the night was fun. Charles and I ended it at a quiet bar nearby, talking comics and how they create full worlds that can explode into so many directions. Comics, man. They’re something else.
But, before that, I finally had my moment on the red carpet. It’s been a long journey. Nothing could ruin this for me.
oh god dammit
