Man oh man this has been a long time coming.
THE WHISPER QUEEN is a three-issue limited series that takes place right after the events of our first series in this world, THE WHITE TREES. Myself, Kris Anka and Matt Wilson have reunited and feeeeels so goooood. The first issue will be out in May, along with a collected reprint of THE WHITE TREES, so people can catch up on the story.
We’re obviously super excited to finally have this come out. THE WHITE TREES is still my favourite thing that I’ve ever worked on, so getting a chance to revisit it is an absolute dream.

Like THE WHITE TREES, the new series is full of fantasy and adventure and sadness and sexiness AKA THE CHIP ZDARSKY WAY

In other news, this week the finale of our JOKER: YEAR ONE story is out with BATMAN #144! But you already knew that, didn’t you?

In Pal News, the man who loves to beat me in the Best Writer category at The Eisners is at it again! James Tynion IV announced a huge new venture where he’s launching an actual production company!
It’s such a huge swing and I’m just insanely impressed by him. James makes cool stuff and now he’s going to make even BIGGER cool stuff! He’s a great guy and deserve all the success in the world.
But, I wish he’d announced it next week sometime as it really took away from my Deadline story…
Oh well!
This newsletter is coming out early as I’m going on VACATION this week! Like, a for real, honest-to-god vacation where I don’t check my email for THREE DAYS. Can I do it?? We’ll see!

Can’t believe we are almost finished with JY1. Feels like there should be 2 more issues, but hey, whatever works, right? I’m very excited to see what Dark Prisons has to offer after this arc. Curious, is Failsafe containing all the Zur personas? I can’t recall if it’s just our Zur or every Zur from the multiverse?
And hit damn, that’s some exciting news for James. Think he might be hiring? I’m in the market for new work and definitely wouldn’t mind it being in this line.
