this is funny: “We’re proud to increase our already massive reach by teaming with both Diamond and Lunar, two names you can trust. One name is an incredibly tough mineral that looks amazing on a ring; the other is the moon, Earth’s only natural satellite, worshiped by many, and the cause, I believe, of menstrual cramps. Both are incredibly powerful.”
but then you go on to say "Issue Three will feature an earth-shattering interview with comics’ good boy James Tynion IV"
and so my question is this: WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE MOON ONCE THE EARTH HAS BEEN SHATTERED IN YOUR INTERVIEW?
thank you for letting me know before we are all floating through space!
Hi Chip! I hope I'm allowed to talk to you! Quick question: you're listed on the NYCC website as a guest, but you haven't added that to the "upcoming signings" section of the newsletter yet. Are you going to be a guest this year or are they big liars? Thanks!
I'm 95% sure I'm going to be a guest! I was a little surprised when I saw my name up there, but I'm definitely into the idea of going, so should have it fully confirmed soon!
He is correct. For a pack of ten it would cost him $1.20. If he wants to charge fifty cents a copy he can do that. But also I would stress to him: this is a way to get readers into shops and it's a way to get readers interested in upcoming titles that he can then sell them. It's a low cost way to do that
I feel like with his years in the shop owning business, he should see the benefits to freebies like Comic Shop News. I don’t get his hesitation on this.
I’ll bring it up again next Wednesday.
Honestly his response to me about this made me do some math to see if going to the further way comic shop would be a better use of my time/money. It’s way further, but everyone there is so cool. They’re a Pro Chip Establishment for sure.
I promise I will try to not keep commenting on older posts but I actually got a copy of zcn from the comic shop I shop at. the girl who works there was like I didn't even know we got those in and grabbed a copy fo herself. she went to ring mine up and a dollar showed as the cost I told her I read they cost retailers like 12 cents and she gave me mine for free. Thanks again Chip!
Chip, this batman run is incredible. I think I've come to a conclusion on the "big question" it seeks to answer thematically. Which is "Is Batman Bruce Wayne, or is Bruce Wayne Batman?"
What leads me to believe this is that going back to Failsafe, I think each story arc so far has been about analyzing a core Batman element detached from its usual environment. "Failsafe" explores Batman's contingency plans as a separate being, "Bat-Man" explores a Gotham without Batman, Zur En Arrh is explicitly Batman without Bruce Wayne, and it feels like you're building to a sort of reconciliation of Batman's JL and solo personas.
Maybe I'm reading way too deep into Batman comics, and when it ends, you'll reveal you sought to answer whether or not Batman likes those bags of cotton candy you get from those trucks at the fair, but I figured I would share my thoughts anyway
I am now reading your Howard the Duck for the first time! And it's one of my favorite things you've done, but I am curious why the Beverly story is hinted at before the Squirrel Girl crossover. Was that crossover a surprise or meant to happen earlier?
Loving tragic sad boy Spider-Man and I need you to do an Aunt May maxi series. Make it a cooking manga
I finished! I was not expecting that finale. Very meta, very fun. Like a more approachable Morrison book.
I guess my one question is will you ever go back and talk about why Bev glows and floats for minute? Or is that an old Howard reference I didn't understand?
I look forward to your project with Lea Thompson being resurrected one day! And her cameo stuff was great!
Yeah! In those flashback panels that preceded it, it showed Bev getting doused in weird pink goo. So they reveal is that she had powers all these years from that but never used them because she made a conscious decision to have a normal life
Hey Chip Im genuinely curious to see if you know something about this! In the final issue of Dark Crisis, the issue ends with Amanda Waller talking about her plans to take down the Justice League, which we now know was teasing Absolute Power all along. But in this scene, Waller is shown with her team of DC Villains who were going to help her take down the league. Peacemaker, Peacewrecker, and Bright were shown, but there was this other mysterious Batman-like character (he was wearing the cowl). he looked to be an amalgamation of Joker, Batman, Sinestro, and Superman. However this character hasnt been seen since this issue, and hasnt appeared in Absolute Power. Im just curious if you know anything about this character. Was he originally going to be apart of Waller's team but was replaced by Failsafe? Do you think we'll ever see him again? Was it YOU who created him? Or can you not say anything because of....potential spoilers👀 Thank you and I CANT WAIT FOR BATMAN 151 AND THE DOMAIN!!
You’re putting someone else in the cover of YOUR magazine? Have you learned nothing from Oprah?
dear chip,
congrats!

the MOON becomes THE EARTH!!!
Oh of course! Ok but then what happens to werewolves?
uh oh
Wow! So cool to see ZCN really talking off!
The ZCN motto is "nowhere to go but up"!
Happy Lunar Diamond Fourples from a notorious (I wish) Hornie, Chip. YAY!
You’re just going to keep showing the Big Two how it’s done with ZCN aren’t you? Low cost family entertainment that’s fun for everyone.
Public Domain 7 was such a blast.
Oh, Rose City convention guest news: Charlie Cox will be there*. Perhaps you both can plot how Disney will adapt the Daredevil fights a Dragon arc.
Have an awesome weekend, Chip.
*I had nothing to do with this. Oh well.
gasp! I'll finally get to meet charlie!!
and you're not just a notorious horny. I consider you "horny prime"
Yay! Glad you will finally meet Charlie.
Oooh, “horny prime.” I graciously accept that title and will use (abuse) it accordingly.

also how dare you talk to me
SORRY I JUST HAD TO KNOW
chip I love the issue ! will there be more bat and cat?! I'm freaking happy
I don't know if this is allowed to say, but #151 was really really good! Yay BatCat! And public domain 7 was awesome and funny too.
I WILL ALLOW IT
^o_o^ I try my best lol its surprise to be a bat...
“ Now your comic retailers will have NO excuse to deny you what is rightfully yours”
Well when I asked my shop to order future installments, his response was “freebies aren’t free for the shop.”
So I don’t think he’s gonna budge on this. Very annoying. He orders your comics, but he won’t order this.

oh man you're definitely smarter than me
no I just think about Batman too much
I am now reading your Howard the Duck for the first time!
The crossover was just a fun detour! So I teed up the Beverly stuff so readers knew we'd be getting back to when the crossover was over
Well it was very neat seeing a sequential, monthly book intentionally tell itself out of order. Looking forward to finishing it!
I finished! I was not expecting that finale. Very meta, very fun. Like a more approachable Morrison book.

I must be slow, I didn't put two and two together!
Thanks as always for answering fan questions! And so fast. So fast you could write.... the Whizzer

I have no idea about any of that, sorry! That's a Josh thing!
Hooray! My store will get ZCN now! But poor Auntie Em will go out of business. You have to hire her!
I also got my copy of Letter Daddies very early apparently!
Very excited to have the full reading experience!
Ah! Exciting! I haven't even seen it yet!
Cramps? Fiourples and Fiveples are for cowards and the unlubed. Infiniple! Hey! We could be the Infiniple Pile and roll around fighting crime!
