I am (un)fortunate enough to live in Wade Wilson's hometown of Regina so I hope to see ya! Depends on what day you're here as I may be out of town.
I've never been to a signing before. Do you have any tips for a first timer? Anything you like to see or hear from fans, or something to avoid entirely like accidentally bringing a copy of Vanish?
Well well well, Chip is going to be at my little West End LCS! That will be an intimate setting, so - in addition to the red carpet and caviar and "endangered species meat" that I assume is in your rider - I'll make sure they have plenty of burning candles, replace the door with a beaded curtain, and cleanse the shop of any malevolent spirits with a white sage smudge. It will be a pleasure to meet you in person, and I shall come bearing gifts of myrrh and Frankenstein, and maybe if I painfully break many bones you can sign my body cast? Or I could just bring a comic. I need my bones.
My friend in Calgary doesn’t know you, which is odd to me since you’re both Canadian, but I’ll try to send him round. Also, comics artists are notoriously challenged by feet, and Jorge apparently didn’t get that memo. Outta the park!
Well they say there’s nothing quite like a road trip to fix what ails you...so good luck and don’t take too many wrong turns!
And since you are leaving the confines of ur comfy little home, maybe next time it works out for you you might make ur way stateside and sign even more comics I’m sure guys like me will happily drop in front of u to scribble on. Seriously, gots lots of Batman and DD that needs ur name on it.
Also I am soooooo enjoying my first vol of Dd and Elektra that released today! Only bad part of it was when I reached the end, and there wasn’t more to read. But I know ur hard at work on the next issue so I still have ways to sate my hunger for more DD
I mentioned before about how ur run on Bats seems to be a serious love letter to Morrison and his run, but I wondered recently just how true that is. And if that mean the possibility of so,e of his more recognizable and infamous characters, like Dr Hurt and the Black Glove, will be darkening the pages of ur run somewhere down the line. I confess it’d be interesting to see someone do a real serious story with them in it again, but also at the same time wonder if anyone wants to use them anymore, since in the years after their intro, newer, and arguably better secret societies have been introduced in the Bat books.
So if I may ask one final thing, many times I have heard back from you on how you are enjoying very much what lots of ur fellow writers are doing on many big name ongoings from the big 2, and was curious if there was any in particular that stood out to you that you would recommend others to check out if they haven’t already?
Also u were right, Jeff Lemire finally returned to continue his Swamp Thing book. Really hope he’s doing well after what happened.
Well enjoy the trip Chip, and do watch out for hitchhikers, they may turn out to be escaping patients from Arkham Asylum!
I'll be honest, most of my free comics reading time has been taken up by all the manga I have to read for my podcast! But from Marvel/DC I've really enjoyed HUMAN TARGET, DETECTIVE COMICS, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and FANTASTIC FOUR recently.
By the by, thanks for always finding time to chat and answer back. Busy guy like u, can’t always be easy. But it means a lot. And more often than not it is very insightful to me. So again thank you Chip.
How much manga we talking about? Cause if it’s in the same league as my own list then I can completely understand your struggles. Spidey is a given, Ram is a genius on Detective Comics right now, but I haven’t had a chance to look into FF yet. Been hearing great things from it. Thanks for the rec.
Just curious, what manga are we talking about that you’ve been reading lately?
Marvel Comics writer Ryan North knows how to do in person events while avoiding sickness, he'd be a great person to talk to. In fact, it might do you good to talk to someone who writes good comics!
dear chip,
have you ever thought about coming to the united states?
for example, there is a city called new york city that is a good one to visit.
when you're done with canada. if you want.
thanks!
love,
myq
been there done that!!!
well, if your health affords it, you could always come to the Toronto of the US -- Chicago.
DON’T LISTEN TO MYQ! Just remember the mantra “West Coast Best Coast.”
feel free to listen to Rev. Touché Irony, and ALSO remember East Coast Beast Coast!
(full of monsters you can get inspired to write comic book stories about)
Hey Chip, this is awesome news!

1. don't look me in the eye
2. It's easy! I am VERY approachable except for the eye thing! Always happy to chat and sign!

Yes! Coming to my LCS in Ottawa! I am unreasonably excited for this!

Believe it or not, Amanda Pays is still modeling and is even hotter now!
(I may or may not have googled her after reading your newsletter)
Haha! She also showed up on the CW Flash show!
Have fun and safe travels on your tour. About ezra I couldn't agree more. And please feel free to transfer your viewing of the flash to me.
Hopefully your West End Comics visit isn’t on a Saturday. It would be awkward to leave my shift at the Silver Snail to meet you.
uh oh
Hahahaha damn.
Wow, I just assumed Ottawa wasn't important enough, but I guess now I will have to come out and say vaguely cutting jibes to your face instead.
But what are the actual dates? I'm heading to Montreal around then and am hoping for a Chip Collision!
Right now on my schedule I'm in Montreal May 3-4!
I WILL BE THERE! YAY!
YAYYYY
Any chance you could squeeze in a London (Ontario) date? Like, I’ll go to Guelph too, but London has, you know, things to see - I think?
sadly this is all I can do on my tight timeframe!
Or like, we could take you out for dinner (and we have a spare room, so long as you are okay with a dog and a cat)
oh I only stay in luxurious hotels
but thank you anyway
Oh, okay, forget it then - we live in squalor
I’m super excited for Guelph! Will have to figure out what to bring!
8th street books and comics was my LCS during my college years. Great shop.

Just kidding, his comics aren't good either.
Love,
