Amazing to think that we are already at the next landmark issue for Batman already. First 900 and now 150 in the new counting. Time sure does fly, though I do find it funny that issue 150 is being used as a tie-in issue for Absolute Power. One would presume they would want it to be all Batman and not have to share any of the pages with another book.
Speaking of Absolute Power, there’s something I’ve been wondering that I haven’t as of yet seen anything on it yet. Why Zur/Failsafe, the Brainiac Queen, and these robot justice leaguers for the antagonists? It can’t be said that evil robots taking over the world hasn’t been done before by DC, even including some human force behind them controlling things (until they eventually rise up of course). So was there a particular reason their form of enemy was chosen for the event, story or other reasons, or does everyone just like robots like all good boys do, lol?
Only part of 150 ties in to Absolute Power! The main story is a standalone story. As for AP, I think a lot of that just came down to what Josh and I were working on that Mark picked up to augment Waller.
Oh goody. I really should have figured the tie-in part was just a small bit, like with the other books lately using their back ups as tie-ins to other stories, like House of Brainiac did with GL and PG. So just how big an issue is this 150 issue? Normal size or a few pages longer?
Ah. I see. I just thought it funny because I believe the third arc of Mark’s World’s Finest series had a mechanical threat of a similar type going on. Wasn’t sure if it was just recycling old and good ideas. But that makes sense, to see what was going on in the DC world and try and add in parts that would work well with his story.
Do you know if it is recommended to get the entire event to get the whole story for AP, or is the core 4 issues good enough?
Thanks. I’m hesitant to get more than I think I need, in large part due to financial reasons and as such, am picky if deciding to add more than what’s absolutely necessary for comic events. That being said I’m still very excited about this new event. Hope it’s gonna be a great one!
10-4 good buddy. Looking forward to seeing it all play out. And see what comes after. Because the real fun, for these events, is peeking at what is coming next.
Personally I’m hoping that Philip Kennedy Johnson and his First World Saga take center stage for DC after AP.
Fashionably late to the BIG 🧅 party, Chip. I am mesmerized by your pink hoodie and the Pay Here sign.
Oh, with you being busy with your BO (Bountiful Originals), I sadly offer with more (comic) release update news: the first DD omnibus has been pushed back to July 23rd. They know I want it NOW. 😈😎 …I can wait…really.🥹
New follower here! I absolutely loved Batman 149 and had a smile while reading it. Always have wondered though, will we ever finally see Ryan Wilder join the batfam in the comics? Hope she isn't forgotten as a character. Can't wait for what's next.
Hey Connor! Welcome! I don't know of any Ryan Wilder plans (though that doesn't mean there aren't any!). The stories I have coming up are super focused on Bruce, so not a lot of bat-family action. My hope is that this new status quo from 149 will be reflected across titles and people will take advantage of this new home!
Thank you much for a response, that makes a lot a sense. Just got a feeling you would do amazingly with her character; with her connection to Batman. Plus, love how you write the others. And I hope so too, I see so many opportunities!
I'm intrigued by this new endeavor, Mr. Big Onion. I want in. If you need anyone for marketing or social media, I'm your guy. I've already come up with a slogan: "Big Onion. Peel Back Our Layers". There's more where that came from.
Hiya!! I loved Batman 149, I love the idea of the new home for Bruce with his daughter and sons with Steph and Babs getting invites too, but my followers on TikTok begged me to ask why Jason wasn't in this one after having his special little moment in 148. Was he too cool for the family meeting? lmao sorry if that gets into spoilerly territory but Stephanie is my fav, I can't help it. Thank you for writing!
Coincidently, Big Onion is what I call Chip's sweet dumper. Call me if you'd like more great comics marketing lines like this.
YES
For a single, horrible second, I thought I saw a tramp stamp in that photo.
photoshopped it out
I loved 149! Won't spoil, but all that development for the clone and for Bruce? Well done, had me feeling emotional. The Zur money gag is very funny.
I have also successfully sold the Whisper Queen at work! Is it enough to confirm more White Trees forever?
Nice! And yeah, there are plans for more Blacksand stories, we just have to find the time!
An ongoing. 100 issues. Minimum!! It'll be like Saga 2: Electric Boogaloo

I believe 150 is 30 pages for the main story and 10 for the AP story.
And with AP, like most events, you can get the whole story reading just the main event title, but there are some fun things in other issues as well.

Oh, then definitely just get the main series!

this photo looks like me attempting to do pilates. you should congratulate yourself on working out in public!

Hope you have a bloody outrageous weekend too.
It has?? I'm always the last to know!

Something smells like liver and onions. And it's coming from my computer.
that's my amazing marketing!!!!
dear chip,
this is great. you're great.
i like this: "Big things are coming up so look out, Tiny Onion, there’s a Big Onion in town (my new nickname)."
Big Onion is a great name because its initials are BO and BO is smelly and also so are onions. in a big way.
love in a big (less smelly) way,
myq
